Pertama tekan : * # 0 6 #
Lalu tekan : tanda panah (arrow) / ok

Occupying a space at the top of Nokia's multimedia-driven Nseries phone range is the N92, whose selling point is being able to play live digital TV broadcasts.

Upside
We had a gander at the N92 during Nokia's product showcase, and were able to catch the cricket live on the impressively optimised 42.4 by 56.64 millimetre screen. While we've come across real-time TV broadcasts from the 3 mobile network when reviewing 3G phones, the visual details -- such as the position of the cricket ball -- are often difficult to make out on relatively small screens. Shows come through crystal clear as the N92 contains a DVB-H (digital video broadcast for handhelds) receiver, rather the patchy video streams we've seen from 3G networks. The N92 is different; everything about it, from the screen ratio to the design of the buttons to the speakers, is planned with television watching in mind. Rather than being a novelty or a way to fill in the time on a train, the live broadcast offering is like having a mini television in your pocket. You'll even be able to see where that cricket ball lands.

Battery life for has been quoted as four hours' worth of TV watching, or 14 days standby, which was better than expected. The N92 is also big on connectivity. Its ability to connect to a wireless network (802.11b/g) means you can transfer files between the phone and your wireless-enabled home computer without needing to be in the same room.

You can also send photos taken with the 2 megapixel camera direct to compatible printers via PictBridge or Bluetooth. We were given a demonstration using PictBridge and an HP Photosmart Compact Photo printer, and were impressed with the speed and simplicity of converting a happy snap from digital to paper.

Downside
A big screen means a big phone, and the N92 is pretty darn hefty. Even those accustomed to the large form factor of many 3G phones may be surprised at how chunky this model is.

The keypad is also a bit awkward to use for dialling and texting, as it has been designed to be used while in the screen-watching configuration. In fact, making calls or sending messages with this phone appear to be incidental features -- it's all about the multimedia.

Outlook
Trials are taking place with broadcasters to determine whether mobile live TV will have a long and lucrative future in the Australian market, so it could be a year or so before we see a comprehensive television programme on the N92. The phone is planned for release in mid 2006, so we'll need to wait at least that long before seeing Warnie in crystal-clear miniature.

Price-wise, no dollar amount has been set yet, but we're hazarding a guess that it won't exactly be cheap to buy a combined television/phone with a huge list of features.

Nokia N81 Mobile Phones

Nokia Edition N81 Specifications & Features Following in the footsteps of past N-series phones, Nokia's N81 is a 3G mobile handset with a heavy skew towards music playback. While it is a decent phone in many ways, with a robust list of features, poor control and build quality as well as a lack of HSDPA are all let-downs.

That said, if you're after a music phone the N81 does a great job. It comes packed with 8GB of storage, which is the equivalent of a large solid state MP3 player, so it should be adequate for most users' needs. All the features you'd expect are there including an equaliser, shuffle and loop modes and full ID3 tag sorting. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack, and using our rather expensive third-party headphones, the sound quality was some of the best we've experienced from a phone.

Weight & Size Nokia N81: 140 g, 102 x 50 x 17.9 mm

Screen Nokia N81: 2.4 Inch QVGA 16 Million Colour Screen (320 x 240 Pixels)

Imaging Nokia N81: 2 Megapixel Camera, 20 x Digital Zoom, Flash, Flash Mode (On, Off, Automatic & Red Eye Reduction), Photo Gallery, Photo Editor, Video Player, Video Recorder (MPEG4, H264, H263, 3GPP, RealVideo 8, 9, 10), Video Streaming, Video Editor, Video Call, Second CIF Camera, Theme Wallpapers, Theme Screensavers

Messaging Nokia N81: SMS (Text Messaging), MMS (Multimedia Messaging), Email with Attachments, Picture Messaging, SMS Distribution List, Predictive Text

Sound Nokia N81: Music Player (MP3 (VBR), WAV, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, M4A & WMA), Media Keys (Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind & Forward), Volume Keys, FM Radio, Visual Radio, Playlists Management, 5 Band Equalizer, Music Streaming (UPnP), Bluetooth Stereo A2DP, Integrated Stereo Speakers, Headset, Nokia Podcasting, Voice Commands, Voice Recorder, MP3 & Polyphonic Ringtones, Talking Ringtones

Entertainment Nokia N81: Game Keys, Game Mode (Landscape or Portrait), Embedded Games, Downloadable Games, Organiser, Contacts, Calendar, To Do List, PIM Printing, Calculator, Clock, Call Log (Missed, Received & Dialled Calls), Speaker Independent Name, Dialling (SIND), Internet Calls VoIP, Conference Call, Push To Talk, Handsfree Speaker, Symbian OS, S60 3.1 Software

Connectivity Nokia N81: WLAN, 3G, Bluetooth™, USB, EDGE

Network Nokia N81 : Quad Band (GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 & GSM 1900), WCDMA 2100

Internet Nokia N81: Nokia Browser with Mini Map

Memory & Talk Time Nokia N81 : MicroSD™ Memory Card with 2 Gbyte Card or 8 Gbytes Internal Flash Memory, 4 Hours Talk Time, 408 Hours Standby

If the gaudy 'rock' style packaging wasn't enough to give away the phone's obvious music orientation, the illuminated music control keys quickly will. Forming a ring around the main directional pad they do make it a little easier to navigate through the music interface; however, this comes at a cost. They take up valuable real estate on the phone's rather cramped control panel, meaning the regular answer and end call keys are squished to the sides. The keys are also a little small at times and those with large hands will encounter more than their share of fumbles.

There is an alternative; the promising sounding "Navi Wheel", which turns the directional pad into a touch sensitivity, iPod-like scroll wheel. While in theory this is a pretty cool idea, in practice it is slow and painfully inaccurate. We found it infinitely faster to scroll using the regular directional buttons.

The poor implementation of this functionality isn't the only bad design element; in fact, the phone as a whole is far from perfectly constructed. Built from thin plastic, it feels quite flimsy and quickly becomes riddled with fingerprints. It also looks quite boxy, which in the age of designer electronics it may deter some users. On the plus side, the slide mechanism works quite well and feels responsive, and the hold switch on the top of the unit is a nice addition, allowing you to unlock the keypad without sliding it open.

Weighing in at 2 megapixels, the camera is a little disappointing. Its pictures are only really suitable for wallpapers, with other camera phones providing a much better alternative if mobile snap shots are your thing.

Utilising the Series 60 Symbian operating system, the N81 is speedy and offers most of the functions you could want. While we would have liked to see a few more applications installed out of the box (such Quickoffice), you can easily get online and download whatever apps are missing. The N81 is a 3G phone and disappointingly it doesn't pack in HSDPA connectivity, so data transfer rates over the phone's network itself are quite slow. That said it was adequate for Web browsing and the S60 interface makes this a breeze. If 3G speeds don't satisfy you however, you also have the option of connecting to a Wi-Fi network and using your regular broadband Internet.

One particularly cool feature of the N81 is the new N-Gauge software package, which bundles three demos from their new mobile gaming platform. Including the likes of FIFA 2007 and a pretty cool top down space shooter, we must say these are some of the best games we've played on a mobile and we're looking forward to seeing what Nokia has in store for the future here.

Battery life is rated at three to four hours of talk time and up to 17 days stand-by, both of which are fairly good figures.

Nokia N78 Fun Phone

Nokia Edition N78 Specifications & Features

The N78 tears me in two. On the one hand, it does everything. It's packed from the bottom of its shiny black chassis to the top of its gorgeous screen with features like HSDPA, FM Transmitter, GPS and a really solid 3.2 megapixel camera. It even looks the goods - the shiny black is as fingerprint-worthy as the iPhone in every sense. But when it comes to actually came to using the N78 - well, in a nutshell I hated it. The controls felt more awkward than my high school formal - the three raised ridges that replaced the traditional numeric buttons were like pressing against the back of a knife, which may suit some people, but did nothing for me. The buttons themselves were fairly responsive, although there were several times the cancel button took an age to actually take me back to the home screen. And the select button, stuck inside a smaller-than-usual 4-way navigation button - almost always scrolled down one place in a list before selecting. I don't have the fattest thumbs on earth either - I ended up countering this (seriously) by navigating to the option above the one I wanted before trying to select it.

Weight & Size : 101.8 g, 113 x 49 x 15.1 mm

Looking past the control issues, the N78 is actually a really impressive handset - it's loaded with pretty much everything you need. Battery life is decent, even with Wi-Fi on, and the GPS chip lets you not only navigate using Nokia Maps, but also geotags your photos. As standard with Nokia Maps, voice navigation is an optional extra, which isn't really worth the cash. The lonely looking button to the right of the D-pad is the multimedia shortcut button, which worked quite well. Sound quality from the N78 is on par with an iPod, although the system for synchronising music isn't up to the same standard as iTunes. In fact, because I use a Mac, I was forced to go and manually search for an iSync plugin to get my information onto the phone. This wasn't very well explained in any of the documentation that accompanied the phone either, mind you. The FM transmitter worked, although like most FM transmitter's I've used, is still frequently subjected to interference. The GPS didn't take too long to connect to the satellites, but it wasn't the fastest I've used either. On the whole, I did enjoy using the N78 - there's a blend of simplicity and functionality in Nokia phones that's hard not to like. But those controls were terrible - I've decided that phones either need proper keys or a touchscreen, not some in between sort-of solution that feels awkward.

[NOKIA E51]

The Nokia E51 is Nokia's new entry-level phone in the E-Series business range, replacing the Nokia E50 which unfortunately failed to make much of an impression on customers.

This is a Symbian S60 3rd Edition smartphone, and the Nokia E51 is a quad-band GSM 850/900/1900/1900 MHz phone with dual band UMTS 850/2100 MHz which will make it useful for business travellers. Unlike the E50, the Nokia E51 now adds UMTS (3G) and HSDPA (3.5G) plus WiFi. This makes the E51 useful as an accessory for a laptop, and the inclusion of WiFi also opens up the possibility of using the handset for voice over IP (VOIP), especially with a corporate VOIP gateway - Nokia provide solutions that will work with Cisco and Alcatel systems. At Mobile Gazette, we think that corporate VOIP using devices of this type is likely to be a major growth area during 2008.

Back to the phone - there's the now familiar 240x320 pixel display in 16 million colours that is common to many other Nokia devices. There's 130MB of internal memory expandable with a microSD slot, Bluetooth and of course all the usual features you'd expect from a Nokia There's also an FM radio and of course a multimedia player.

One controversial feature of the Nokia E51 is bound to be the inclusion of a 2 megapixel camera on the back. Many businesses simply do not want cameras on their phones because they represent a security risk in some areas. We very much hope that the E51 comes in an optional no-camera configuration as an alternative.

Nokia have tweaked the interface a little, and there's now a "Home" button instead of the S60 menu key to give access to commonly used applications. There's also a dedicated email key plus a "new message" indicator light. The E51 supports Nokia Intellisync and it's quite likely that there will be a range of push email solutions available for it.

At 100 grams, the Nokia E51 is pretty light for a 3G phone with WiFi and a QVGA display. Talktime has been quoted as a somewhat disappointing four and a half hours or so, we don't know if that's on 3G or 2G though. Standby time is around 13 days.

The Nokia E51 will be priced at around €350 before tax and subsidy, comes in Silver, Black and Rose colour combinations and should be available during Q4 2007.
